TOTAL FAVE: No7 Exceptional Definition Mascara

I got this mascara for christmas with the big No7 beauty box that Alex bought me. I've never tried a No7 mascara before and am actually overwhelmed by this one!

I had been using one of the new Eyeko mascaras for a while and in hindsight can see that it was not good for me at all. It just made my lashes clump up into spikes and was such a mission to remove (literally like glue) that I actually lost a lot of lashes using it.

So I was feeling pretty down about the lash sitch until this little beaut came into my life - No7's Exceptional Definition. I had only seen the mascara as a little bonus to the christmas present (I mainly wanted it for the Protect and Perfect skin creams)! It makes me look like I have SO many lashes. Nice long, thick ones at that!

The brush has many nifty features to it. One side has a long combed brush, and the other has much shorter and closer together 'teeth'. I assume this means one side is for the top lashes and the smaller side is for the bottom lashes. On the end of the brush theres a spiky nobbly bobbly bit (as we call it in the industry) which is perfect for getting the little lashes in the corners of the eye!

After a second application:

I use the classic 'wiggle' mascara technique to separate the lashes, and I am so happy with the end result. Non-clumpy, thick and curvy lashes. Every day.

Boots are doing their £5 off No7 offer at the moment, so if you are pondering what to spend it on, I highly recommend this product*! They're doing 3 for 2 on No7 on the website, too, if you'd rather buy online!

Thank you, No7, for giving me eyelashes again!!

Right, I've said eyelashes so many times it has lost all meaning (don't you just hate that?) so I shall close here!

Have you tried this mascara? What did you think?

<3

* - If you don't have a £5 off No7 voucher, make sure you have a little look near the self service machines in Boots. They get printed off with any receipt over £5 and people just leave them there all the time! A great chance to get a free voucher or pick up some extra ones. Call me skanky, but who's the one rolling in beauty bargains?! ;)

  3. I tried the no7 intense volume mascara last time I had a voucher and was really impressed! This one looks really good too, I'll make sure to get it when I'm next stood at their counter wondering what to spend the £5 off voucher on!! x

  4. i always used number 7 intense volume mascara but then got sucked into trying the benefit bad gal mascara, which was ok, but dried out super quick and didn't last all day. the bf bought me l'oreal million lashes for christmas, which i was sceptical about because i like bristles not rubber teeth but it is AMAZING! As you said, not at all clumpy, thick and curly and stays on forever. i don't know if i love number 7 or l'oreal more now...x

ps. apparently my boyfriend and your brother are rather good friends? he failed to tell me this until a few days ago!

  5. Wow, such a pretty mascara! I wish I could wear it more often but any mascara seems to literally make my eyelashes come out in huge clumps!? Maybe I'm allergic, I don't know..

  6. It's such a good mascara! You should try the Lash Adapt one if you haven't already. I find it better than this one and the layers go on without clumping at all which is fab. They're all really easy to remove as well xx

  7. i love no.7 mascaras! first discovered them when my mum gave me a bunch of testers years ago. they are all amazing! i do kind of wish the pricetag was a little lower though, i know they're only like £12ish but that's just on the wrong side of a tenner for my liking, considering it's a drugstore brand x

  8. i do like the look of the "spiky nobbly bobbly bit"! perfect for clumsy types like myself, who like to subconsciously emulate twiggy when applying mascara! also loving your cheeky voucher tip. most definitely NOT skanky, it's actually genius!

your lashes look wonderful, so dont be feeling self conscious about them! :) also, your eyebrow is perfection! serious brow envy. actually just general eye-related envy.

  9. Amazing results!!
A detailed brush makes a world of difference. I always worry about the brush more than about the formula but it seems you found both quite agreeable in this instance.
I'll be trying this out soon, I think

  11. apparently, the short side is for separating, defining and combing through, and the longer side is for applying the mascara. LOVE No.7 mascaras, havent used any other in yonks :)

  14. Ooh, that is good! I thought I couldn't cope with the rubber bristley ones but I tried the MaxFactor Masterpiece Max one which I love. I used to use the No7 Intense Volume one, but that was a little bit natural for me.
I would try this but I do have other plans for my No7 vouchers, namely trying the new BB cream and stocking up on their make up brushes which are really good.

  15. Wow your lashes look fabulous! I was eyeing this mascara up the other day but ended up buying a Revlon one because it was cheaper - it's rubbish - so I might have to pick this up before the vouchers run out!

P.S. I totally look round all the self-checkouts in Boots for left-behind vouchers...not my problem if they forgot to pick theirs up! xxx

  16. This looks amazing! I've never tried any No7 mascaras before, but I'm definitely tempted to try this one now. I'm constantly on the search or the 'perfect' mascara!

  17. I haven't tried the new Eyeko mascaras, it makes me scare that their line is so downsized and the prices have gone up! But I used the No7 Exceptionnal Definition Mascara last year and really liked it, as well as the Protect & Perfect range. Actually, I still have a tube, and should get back to it!

  20. Ooh, it looks good. I used a No. 7 mascara for a bit, although I now forget which one. I did like it, but didn't repurchase, as it was a bit pricey without the trusty vouchers! Nice tip for poaching extras. I'll be keeping my eyes peeled in Boots from now on.

  21. I've tried I few no7 mascaras when my mum got the wee freebies with her foundation, but I haven't tried this one. And I was wondering what to use my voucher on! Thanks Gem! :) xo

  22. I recently got this with a £5 off no7 voucher after not getting on so well with the exquisite curl mascara and deciding to try this one and I love it! I have teeny tiny straight lashes so this mascara with help from my curler makes me a happy bunny. And I love the spikey nobbly bobbly bit on the end, so useful!

  24. I picked up a no7 mascara not too long ago and it really is the best one I've used. I got it with a £5 off voucher and it was around £7 - not too shabby! I'm running out though so will give this one a go, boots is the place!

  25. Might have to try this, your eyes look beautiful!

  27. Oh wow, totally sold on this, once I'm through my current couple of mascara, I'm definitely trying this, I have stubborn little eyelashes!

  28. I love No 7 mascaras! I have a feeling I've tried this one a while ago, at the minute I'm using No 7 Lash Adapt and I've never loved a mascara more! Gonna go on the scrounge for some vouchers (brill idea) and give this one a go now though, will never look back from No7 mascaras, even a Chanel one my mum gave me doesn't look as thick and lovely as this!

  31. WOW that mascara seems to do an AMAZING job x

  32. I also have the same box (at the bargain price of £35!) and I do like the mascara but I am slightly bias as I love No7 products. I would recommend Benefits They're Real! mascara. A little pricey at £18.50 but if you apply it right (best saved for the expert mascara'tist) then you can get some amazing results. I am a little smitten with mine.

    Love your blog :)

  35. My Nana got the set for Christmas off my Mum - she doesn't wear mascara so she passed this one on to me, bless her! I love it too, I was already using a sample size one from a free gift set I got just before Christmas, but now I have a full size back up :) I think on their own, they're slightly overpriced (like most No.7 stuff!) but when it's £5 off I'd recommend it to anyone!
