What I wore the other day

I got this super cute dress the other day for £15 in New Look's sale. I bought another dress too so I could decide which to keep once I got home, but didn't realise you couldn't get a refund on sale items. Boo! Crummy policy, New Look. But thanks for the lovely dress... Not sure whether to love or hate you right now!

(Worn with my battered charity shop boots and cute socks c/o Very.co.uk.)

I'm living in my big leopard bow at the moment because I got my hair cut about a week ago and I always get it 'short back and sides' and shaved a bit, but the lady shaved it a bit too severely (not graduated - is that the word?) so I now have a bit of a bowl cut/pseudo monk look going on! Covering it up until it grows out a tad...

That's what you get when you spend £9 on a haircut at the local Barber I guess! They are usually very good though. Plus haircuts always look better after a week or so, I think.

Back to the uni grindstone now!

Have fun in the sun, kids! Please be careful. SPF 30 or GTFO.

  2. I love that dress! Its what I would call a dolly tea dress :) You should get some fabric from your local fabric store and make some cute hair bows....that could be your next DIY project xo

  4. That dress is adorable on you! New Look is great for sale bargains, but I got tricked with their 'no refunds' policy before too - always make sure I'm sure now.

Hair is always better a week later - just like bolognaise - better the next day!

  7. Corr, looking lush ;) Don't worry Gem, I've heard the pseudo monk look is gunna be a big autumn/winter trend.

  8. Is this a new refund policy? I returned a coat I got on the sale, a while back, with no problems whatsoever! I think a lot of shops seem to be adopting this policy though, which sucks.
I've had the same hair-shaved-too-severely problem as you, you seem to be dealing with it very gracefully though!

  9. Super cute dress! And I agree with haircuts looking better after a week - I personally hate the-just-had-my-haircut-feeling. As soon as I get home from the hairdressers I wash my hair - wierd, I know.

  14. NL not giving money back on sales items is new to me! Cheek!

Looks lovely all the same so I think it's a sign!

I want my short hair back...! But know what you mean when they take too much off and a week later it looks tip top!

    Have a good weekend x

  16. Ahhh such a cute dress! Bargainous too. But I agree, stupid policy on sale items New Look, grr at them.
I love the hair bow on you, you pull it off really well. I love your haircut, wish I could pull off short hair, it would be so much less hassle!

  17. I think you can return sale items and get the money back on a gift card? still a bit rubbish but better than having a dress you dont want!

  18. Love this outfit - very cute. You really suit the hair bows! I envy the fact you can pull off the 'straight-faced' pose - I look really moody if I have my photo taken not smiling, but all other bloggers seem to maintain looking nice!

    Have a lovely Easter x

  19. Love that dress - it's basically perfect in every way! Good buy :)

New Look changed their refund policy just before Christmas I believe - because I was really annoyed when I bought a load of bargains in the Jan sales, & then couldn't get my money back on the ones I didn't want. They said that it had been 'clearly advertised' & told to everyone etc, but I actually think they did it quite sneakily.. I certainly hadn't been told when I made my purchases. But anyway, water under the bridge now!
I'd like to say that it's made me more careful about what I buy in New Look, but honestly, I don't think it has, because I figure I'll just exchange/gift voucher it anyway - because there's pretty much always something I want in there!

  26. I love this dress, I wanted it a while ago. Tried on the only one in my size I could find & found out it was all split down the seam in the changing room. Mortifying though, because I always think that the staff would think I'd have done it! Cue shoving in the back of the kids section & running away! Definitely might have to re-check it out though if it's on sale - in another store, of course!

  27. Yeah New Look screwed me over with that line too, now I have £15 of credit vouchers that will likely go on xmas pressies cause I rarely shop there! Cute dress tho :)

  32. I love the dress! The New Look sale is really good at the moment, I've snapped up a few bargain peter pan collar dresses. I do have a few sale items to return though and definitely wasn't told about the 'no refund' policy so I won't be happy if they turn round and say it's true! x
